A Back Pain Case Story:
Gina, a 43 year old nursing instructor, came in with low back pain and a recommendation from her surgeon for
a spinal fusion. A herniated disc between T12 and L1 had caused her emergency room style pain and was messing with her sleep. She did not want surgery.
In addition to that, she had a chronic thyroid condition that affected her energy and joints way too regularly.
It was also allergy season.
She had never tried acupuncture before.
At the end of her first treatment, "I can't find any
more pain," was her comment.
Her next visit, she reported, "Still no pain. I can breathe much better and my mental fog is clearing."
We still work on Gina's chronic health conditions that show up when her life is a little too stressful for her,
but that surgery never happened and her back has
never been her chief complaint since.
